The Garage

We often get asked, "What wheel are you running?" or "What impact wrench is that?"

At Blue Chord Racing, we believe in buying tools once. Whether it's the virtual cockpit or the physical garage, this is the gear we trust to build our dream and hit our lap times.

The Sim Rig

The Wheel Base: Thrustmaster T300RS Edition

Why we run it: This is the king of mid-range wheels. Unlike gear-driven beginner wheels that feel notch-y, the T300RS uses a dual-belt system. It’s smooth, quiet, and the force feedback is detailed enough to feel the tires lose grip before you spin out.

The Pedals: Thrustmaster T3PA GT Pedals (Included with Wheel)

Why we run it: These come stock with the GT Edition and are a huge step up from standard plastic pedals. They feature 100% metal heads and internal structure.

The monitor: AOC C32G2ZE 32" Curved Gaming Monitor (240Hz)

Why we run it: For a single-screen setup, a 32-inch curved panel is the sweet spot for immersion without needing a massive triple-monitor stand. We chose this AOC because the 240Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms response time are blazing fast—essential for reacting to slides in the sim before it's too late.

The Rebuild (Project Cayman)

The tools tearing down the Porsche Cayman engine

Impact Wrench: Milwaukee M18 FUEL Mid-Torque (3/8" Drive)

Verdict: This is the "Goldilocks" of impact wrenches. It has enough torque to bust rusted suspension bolts and lug nuts loose, but it's compact enough to fit inside the wheel well. If you only buy one electric tool, make it this one.

TRACK DAY ESSENTIALS

The Future Helmet: Racequip PRO20 Series (SA2020 Rated)

Verdict: Crucial Safety Note: While the new Snell SA2025 standard was released late this year, most racing organizations (SCCA, NASA) accept the current standard plus the previous one. This means SA2020 helmets are fully legal for competition until roughly 2031. Since SA2025 inventory is currently low and expensive, the RaceQuip SA2020 is the smartest budget-friendly buy that still gets you on track legally today. It also features pre-installed M6 threaded inserts, making it HANS-ready right out of the box.

Gloves: Alpinestars Tech-1 Race V4 Gloves

Verdict: These aren't just for the sim—they are SFI-rated for actual competition. Whether it's the Alcantara wheel on the rig or the leather wheel in the Cayman, the Tech-1 Race V4 offers professional fire protection and tactile feedback without the bulk.
